Incident summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control said seven dogs entered a woman’s yard in northwest Charlotte on August 26 and attacked her; three other people were also injured. One dog was shot by a sheriff’s deputy, and the surviving dogs were captured. In a September 17 follow-up, survivor Hayley Wright told WSOC-TV she suffered more than 100 bite wounds, underwent two surgeries, spent 10 days in the hospital and was learning to walk again. On October 2, WBTV published additional surveillance video and reported that Charlotte police had confirmed the dogs shown spilling from a U-Haul were the dogs responsible for the attack. WBTV also reported that Animal Care & Control believed the six surviving dogs had been euthanized; BiteDB preserves that disposition as agency-reported belief rather than an independently confirmed final record. Charging reports against Rodney and Rychelle Morrow remain source-attributed allegations, not convictions.
