Baltimore dog owner bitten during attack; police shoot dog and also injure owner
Baltimore Police reported that a dog attacked its 33-year-old owner on October 26, 2025; the man had several bites and a separate police-gunfire injury, and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Incident summary
Baltimore Police reported that officers responded to an animal-bite call at about 4:44 p.m. on October 26, 2025, in the 900 block of St. Paul Street. The 33-year-old dog owner said his dog had already bitten him and was aggressive. Officers asked him to isolate the animal, but he could not. The dog attacked the man again inside the residence and followed him outside as he fled. Two officers fired their weapons, killing the dog and also striking the man. Police said he sustained several bite wounds plus a distinct gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a hospital in stable condition. The breed, exact dog-bite diagnoses, and subsequent medical outcome were not reported. The officers’ use of force was under investigation, and this record does not treat a gunshot wound as a dog-bite injury.
Baltimore Police stated that its Special Investigations Response Team was investigating the officer-involved shooting. The reviewed official release did not announce a dog-owner criminal charge, a dangerous-dog legal finding, or a completed disciplinary or civil outcome. Police gunfire injuries and the canine bites are separate events.
