Mastic toddler mauled after dog escapes home; owner later jailed on probation violation
Suffolk County prosecutors said a 2-year-old boy and his uncle were bitten in March 2023; the owner pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and later received jail time for violating probation.
Incident summary
Suffolk County prosecutors said a dog escaped from its owner’s home, bit an uncle as he picked up a 2-year-old boy, caused the child to fall, then bit the child multiple times in the face, head and leg. The child was treated at Stony Brook University Hospital and received stitches.
Amy Willi pleaded guilty in September 2024 to second-degree reckless endangerment. Current August 2026 follow-up reporting says she was sentenced August 26, 2026 to eight months in jail for violating probation; that later sentence concerns the probation violation, not a new attack.
